Stewart Given

Stewart Given passed away on February 19, 2016, at the age of 86, just a year after he was awarded HCC’s Honourary Member status.  Stewart graduated with distinction from the University of Saskatchewan in 1950 with a degree in Agriculture. He then worked on the family farm before starting a long and rewarding career with Farm Credit Canada. He met his wife May in Prince Albert where he worked as club manager. They were married in 1958, and have three daughters and 5 grandkids.  In 1988, Stewart joined HCC’s Board of Directors, working on various projects, serving as President in 1989-90, managing the onerous and ongoing challenges of expanding the club to four sheets. Stewart and May organized and coordinated the fixed teams league for Monday afternoon and later donated the Give’N Take Trophy for this popular league. Stewart never hesitated to volunteer his time and energy to the club and is missed by his many friends.
