2018 Huntley Newsletter 33

Hello curlers, well I have been getting complaints that I have not put out a newsletter for a while, so here goes. (yup, just kidding about the complaints..ha)  This is a bunch of smaller items.

Ottawa Valley Senior Men’s Curling for 2019/2020: We are looking for male Club members, at least 55 years of age, who may be interested in creating another Huntley foursome to participate in the Ottawa Valley Senior Mens Curling League. The League plays Wednesday mornings at 10am from early October until late February, at Huntley and seven other Clubs in the Valley. The cost, beyond regular Club fees, will likely be 80$ per player for next year.
It’s a fun league that all current participants are happy to endorse. If you are interested in playing either full-time or as a spare next year, please contact Trevor Gloyn, as soon as possible and not later than March 30th, his contact details are in the member phonebook, which is avail in the members area of the website.

Friday Social League Oyster Night on 29 Mar: Yes, this wonderful and tasty event is back again!  Sign up will be available soon on our registration site at: https://registration.huntleycurling.ca/events (keep checking back)

You get 12 of the most incredible cooked oysters (three recipes to die for) for $20.  Event starts at 7:30pm.  Brian Voss is the man!  You can also contact him directly by looking him up in the member phonebook avail in the members area of our site.
Info Session held on 2 Mar: we had a very informative session with quite a few members present.  Shawn and Dan gave a great briefing on the detailed plan to maintain our club building, and planted a few seeds for the work that is to come.  For their presentation see: The 5 year plan

Website Calendar Time Display: I know that you all frequently consult our HCC online activity calendar    (Okay, I am delusional…) Some of you have found the times to be confusing: the dang website is so smart it knows what time zone you have set in your computer and adjusts the displayed times accordingly….which makes them all wrong if you don’t have your own computer set correctly!!  When you go to the calendar, please check that “ice maintenance” is shown at 0700 on most days.  If so…the times are all right.  If not, then the times are all out by the same amount, and the issue is the time your computer is set to.

The Last Rock: yes, the days are flying by as we rapidly approach that ultimate week of HCC curling!  Team selections and Calcutta wagering all kicks off on Sat 6 April at the club….as we all gather to see the ultimate playoff game to decide our “Club Champions”.  See you there!  (and see some of you on the ice during the Last Rock week of action and games…..)
