End of 2023 Season Newsletter

Huntley’s Board of Directors thanks everyone for a great season of curling and hopes all of you join us again next season! Registration will open on June 1st. Here is the latest news

Our teams at Senior Mixed Provincials

The Mark Leger and Marc Tremblay teams competed last week in the Ontario Senior Mixed provincial championship in Woodstock, with Team Tremblay narrowly missing the playoffs. It was a great experience for both teams and we hope to see them challenge again next year.

Roof contract update

The Board recently received five fixed price bids to complete a membrane overlay on our existing roof, and all the prices came in under our budget! We have signed a contract with the low bidder, D.R.Devine Roofing Ltd, a local and experienced firm, and they plan to commence in April and be complete by mid-June. We have been working toward this point for at least 6 years!

Volunteering

Many members still need to fulfill their volunteer requirements. The Board has a few opportunities open to you, such as ice removal and cleanup, general building cleanup, minor repairs and renovations. If you think you can assist during the next few weeks, please message manager@old.huntleycurling.ca.

Rock handles

There is still time to get your name on a new rock handle! You can register on our website until April 30.

Golf tournament

Our annual golf tournament occurs on June 17 at Greensmere. You need to register via our website by April 30.

New Member Survey

Please keep an eye out for an on-line survey landing in your mailbox. It will be sent to all members who have joined the club in the last five years. We want to get your feedback on how well we are integrating new members, what we could do to enhance your experience and if you are interested in more curling opportunities.

Plans for Next Season

League changes proposed include turning Monday Evening and Saturday Evening into Open leagues for all levels of curlers and adding a new Daytime Ladies league on either Wednesday or Friday Afternoon.

Registration will start June 1st for next season, with the Membership Preference Date being July 30th. We plan to hold the AGM in early September.

We plan to have league play start one week earlier than usual, on October 2nd, and finish the season one week earlier as well, on April 6th. The current proposed schedule for 2023-24 is posted on our website.

We hope you enjoy your summer, and that you are already anticipating getting back on the ice next season!
