May 2023 Newsletter

Huntley’s Board of Directors welcomes you to the upcoming curling season! Is it too early? Not at all, and this is why…

Registration Opens June 1st

The on-line registration system for the 2023/24 season will open on June 1st. Visit our website at old.huntleycurling.ca. You can register for all the curling leagues you want, and also for the fall Learn-to-Curl session for adults. Please remind your team-mates.

The Membership Preference Date is August 1st, meaning those teams or individuals returning to a league will have priority if they register before that time. For others, the earlier you register the more likely it is that you will obtain the league openings you want.

Membership fees remain largely unchanged, except for Come & Curl leagues which are now priced per league, although at discount rates.

League Changes

We are offering a new Daytime Ladies league, which starts at 12:45pm on Friday. The timing for all other leagues remains unchanged. However, in an effort to make various leagues more accessible to a wider range of skill levels, we are adjusting the Monday and Saturday Evening as well as Wednesday Twilight leagues to be fully open to all comers.

Golf Tournament – Volunteers needed

If you registered for our annual golf tourney, make sure you have June 17th on your calendar. Golfing will occur at Greensmere, followed by dinner and presentations at Huntley curling club.

The HCC Tournament Committee needs some more volunteer assistance, prior to and after the event. Please contact volunteers@old.huntleycurling.ca if you need to get a few more hours registered for last season.

Other Volunteering

There are a number of opportunities over the summer for you to either fulfill your hours for last season, or to get a start on next season’s. To check your current volunteer status, contact secretary@old.huntleycurling.ca. If you think you can assist during the next few weeks, please contact manager@old.huntleycurling.ca.

New Roof Update

We have started the new roof overlay! Local roofer D.R.Devine has brought materials to site and is starting installation this week, to be completed by end of June. With all the fundraising efforts over the past 5 years, we will actually complete this project within our available funds.
