2023/24 Curling Season

The pace of registrations at this point in the summer is more than double what it has been for the past two years. Members returning to leagues should get registered before the August 1st Membership Preference date to guarantee their spot.
If you won a membership credit at the recent HCC golf tournament, please contact the Membership Director for help to redeem.

Remind your friends about our Learn-to-Curl program. The October thru December session is accepting registrations now and is filling fast. Also watch for our free Try-Curling day that is being planned for early in the season.

Golf Tournament Recap

A big thank you to all the wonderful people who participated in this year’s golf tournament, held on June 17th at the Greensmere Golf Club. The 115 participants enjoyed a fair-weather day of golf followed by a fine meal at the HCC.

Full details of the event including the list of the competition winners can be viewed in this article posted on the HCC website. This article also includes the long list of businesses and individuals who sponsored the event.

Note, there was a tote bag with personal items found at the HCC following the dinner. If you or someone you know might be the owner, please contact Claire Zanetti, one of the event organizers.

New Sponsor Announcement

We have a new sponsor for one of the evening leagues – Cooper Equipment Rentals. David Kovacs, Branch Manager for Carp’s Cooper Equipment Rentals has joined our club and has generously sponsored our Thursday Night Open League.

Welcome David!

Roof Construction Update

Our contractor D.R.Devine has been diligently carrying out the roof overlay project since mid-May, and are presently about 60% complete. Members of the Capital Committee have been keeping tabs on the progress and details since Day 1, and all appears to be going very well, except for being behind schedule, which is mostly weather-related. The quality of work is right up to par, and we anticipate no problems with completing a great asset that the club needs.

Club Refreshment

Since our roof project is under budget, the Board has decided to spring a few bucks loose to upgrade the appearance of our tired-looking front entrance. Without giving anything away, we believe you might be impressed with an updated look that we will complete at minimal cost over the summer. Additionally, the chairs in the lounge area are all new – those who enjoyed dinner after the golf event in June got a sneak peek at them.

Volunteer Opportunities

Many opportunities exist for immediate or near-future volunteers to complete. Whether you are trying to complete hours from the past season or wishing to get a jump on your volunteer hours for the upcoming season, please review the list of tasks that we seek volunteers to staff on our website. Visit this page regularly to see updates, especially as the event schedule for 2023/24 is finalized.

If you wish to volunteer or have questions, you may email the Volunteer Director.

Website Updates

There have been two improvements to our website that we wish to bring to your attention. First is the addition of a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page that will be expanding in the coming months. Second is the addition of a search box that you can use to search the complete website.

These are just a few of improvements that we are looking to enhance the usability and usefulness of the club’s website. If you have any questions not answered by the FAQ or suggestions on making the website more useful to you, let the Communications Director know.
