Another successful Battle of the Sexes Tournament was held on Dec 16 and this time the women won! The men had to deal with some exceptionally one-sided rules but, no fear, the men get to make the rules for next year’s event, and the women will be in for a treat.
Thanks to all those who came out to make it such a great time. Of note, the winner of the “Golden Shoe” for the shot of the tournament went to Marc Budnick. Additional thanks to Stephanie for tending the bar, and the team of volunteers who provided an excellent meal. Looking forward to next year’s Battle!
As for the Golden Shoe, the original has a history that dates back some 30 plus years ago at the Battle of the Sexes at the Rideau curling club. It is a long story that, honestly, is best explained by attending the Battle!
As a follow-up, when Mark Leger was asked to explain the history of the Golden Shoe award this was his response (which I can only assume included a grin on his face). Guess I’ll need to attend next year’s event to learn the story!
