The following report was provided by Jim Collings.
The 2024 Presidents Cup bonspiel was held at Almonte CC this year, with Huntley, Arnprior and Richmond clubs also attending. Each club provided 10 teams in a range of categories. Huntley team skips included:
- U6 – Jonathan Tremblay and Cory Mundy
- Open Women – Leanne Douthwright and Larissa Lefebvre
- Open Men – Mark Leger and David Cormier
- Open Mixed – Jim Collings
- Senior Women – Lenora Homulos
- Senior Men – Trevor Gloyn
- Senior Mixed – Garry Lackner
We turned in an overall record of 13 wins, 3 ties and 14 losses, however it was enough to win our trophy back! We scored 507 points vs our nearest competitor (Arnprior) with 483 points. That margin is getting closer each year, so we need to keep our game up for next year, when Arnprior will be hosting this event. Over the 4 years the bonspiel has been run, Huntley has come away with the trophy every time, and we really want to keep it.
A fun time was had by everyone, the matches were fast and furious, the food was fabulous, and the buzz was loud all weekend. Many thanks to Almonte Curling Club for hosting this year, and to Steve Conlon and his team for putting on a great event!
